BWF Teams Up with D-PAN for ASL Performances during Virtual ROO-ALITY

The virtual adaptations being made throughout the pandemic has led to an unfortunate decline in opportunity for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. From the White House Coronavirus Taskforce briefings to any number of the recent virtual concerts & livestreams, the deaf and hard-of-hearing community has been largely left out of digital engagements currently keeping people connected, informed, and entertained while at home.

Inclusivity and access has always been a goal at Bonnaroo. While the virtual festival adjustments made it challenging to provide interpretations for the entire festival, we are grateful to have teamed up with D-PAN.org and Amber G Productions for select performances and panels.

Airing on DPAN.tv, a streaming platform specifically designed for the deaf & hard-of-hearing, Amber G and her team of music interpreters will perform live alongside archived sets from Beastie Boys, Metallica, and My Morning Jacket.

Additionally, D-PAN has provided captioning services for all six panels from the Sanctuary of Self Love curated by Hayley Williams and presented by Toyota. Conversations about monumentally important topics such as Gender, Wellness, Mental Health, and Diversity should not be denied an audience simply because of access. Captions will be viewable during the free Virtual ROO-ALITY livestream on YouTube.
